Sintra is one of Europe’s most picturesque and romantic jewels. Situated in a mountainous Natural Park, this UNESCO world heritage site is home to some of the most amazing monuments in Portugal, including what was considered the most beautiful Castle in Europe (2014) and Garden (2013) by the European Best Destinations Organization. This tour covers the Unesco world heritage area with time to visit one monument on the inside, amazing view points, explanations about other points of interest, and a pleasant walk through the historic center.

This tour begins at your Hotel/AirBnB where we will meet you. Depending on traffic you can expect a 30-minute drive from Lisbon or a 20 minute drive from Cascais.
Once we get to Sintra we’ll stop at the Historic center to admire its labyrinth of streets, traditional architecture and the grandiosity of the National Palace. Here you’ll have the opportunity to taste some of Portugal´s best pastry delicacies: the travesseiro and the queijada. A visit to the National Palace is optional.
After leaving the Historic center we’ll drive up the mountain for a gorgeous view of both the Moorish Castle and the Pena Palace. You’ll hear about the amazing history behind these two very different monuments and appreciate the general scenery of Sintra. We can then take you to the entrance to visit the monument of your choice (with your guide’s help) or continue our tour.
After coming back from the mountain top, we’ll discover Quinta da Regaleira. This mystic Palace and garden will have you dazzled with the romanticism of a bygone era. Again, you can opt to spend more time here or continue the tour.
A short drive through the forest from Quinta da Regaleira and we’ll find another jewel of Sintra – the Monserrate Palace. This is a romantic palace of many different inspirations and home to what was considered the Best Garden in Europe in 2014. Once again, the visit is optional.
After this magical tour is over your guide will drive you back to you Hotel/AirBnB or another place of your choice.
