The second floor of the emblematic Quinta da Regaleira Palace in Sintra will reopen this summer after restoration works. Night tours start next thursday.
The nine rooms and the stairs to the second floor of the Quinta da Regaleira Palace are being restored. The space will be reopened this summer and visitors will be able to enjoy this new area, where they will get to know the Lusíada room, with details of carved stone and frescos alluding to passages of “Lusíadas”. A big intervention of valorization and recovery of one of the most imposing monuments of the historical village.
“This is a unique space where History, Culture and Nature come together in perfect symbiosis in one”, said the Mayor of Sintra, regarding to the investment “in the conservation of this emblematic space and in the continuous improvement of the conditions of host of visitors”.
But the news about the Palace don’t stop here. From Thursday, April 25, the space reopens at night (every last Thursday of each month). The initiative runs until the last Thursday of September, the 26th. On the days in question there are three opening times: 21:00, 21:30 and 22:00. Each experience lasts about an hour and a half.
The night guided tours offer the historical and artistic point of view of the monument, but also pass through the garden. The initiative is recommended for people over 16 years old.
In 2018, Quinta da Regaleira received 1 million visitors, reflecting the continued growth registered in recent years.
Quinta da Regaleira is one of the most surprising monuments of the Sintra mountain range. Located at the end of the historical centre of the village, it was built between 1904 and 1910.
